Community Garden work day follow up:
Despite the sporadic dismal conditions on Saturday, a hearty group of volunteers showed up to accomplish the top priorities on the list:
~ move the piles of soil inside the fence
~ build a couple more raised beds
~ build a compost bin
~ harvest the vegetables (lots of potatoes and tomatoes)
~ pick up some fabulous compost and get it into the beds
~ socialize, have fun, and warm up with tasty chili, breads, and pie from the church bazaar across the street
It didn’t make sense that day to build more benches in the rain and cold so . . .
Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 4:30 will be another opportunity to build the benches. Pat Sullivan will be outside the library, ready to guide folks through the simple project. materials and tools will be provided.
All are welcome, especially youngsters.
Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 6:00, there will be a meeting of the seed savers/community garden group. No more than an hour.Basically to determine what must get done before winter sets in and to look forward to making next year even better. All people and input are welcome at the meeting.
Thanks. hope to see you at one or both events.
