Just in time for all your holiday caroling – the bridge on the Lane is now open.
Word on the street, pun intended, from Road Commissioner Dave Tatro is that the bridge on The Lane will be open late this afternoon (November 22nd) and will then be closed down again on Monday morning (November 27th) so the contractors can finish the project.
No word yet on how long the bridge will be closed after Monday yet.
If you have a bottle of champagne left over from the holiday, perhaps you can donate it to the open ceremony so Dave can break it over the new abutments (just kidding).
If you are a subscriber to Stamfordvt.org, I’m sorry for filling your inbox today, but I thought it was important to send this out ASAP.
Iberdola, the windmill company, has announced that there will be a planned power outage at their site on Saturday November 18th starting at 6:30am. There is no word on how long it will last, but this will affect Internet access for some of the SVBC members.
If you have questions regarding this Internet outage, you can send an email to email@example.com or contact one of the board members listed here.
In a previous post I stated the special town meeting for comments on the proposed town plan was scheduled for Thursday November 15th – right day, wrong date.

Thank you to a sharp eyed reader!!

Notice that a public hearing will be held Thursday November 15th at 5:30pm to receive comments regarding the proposed town plan.
Luke McKay picked up a stray dog on County Road near the Klondike Road intersection last week. It has no collar or tags and is not friendly. He has posted notices in town to find the owner without luck. He contacted Pownal and hung a notice at Stewarts. He has tried twice to reach Clarksburg but has not received any call back. Mike Denault will put a picture of the dog on face book. The town is required to hold the dog for 10 days after the notice is posted which is this Saturday, November 4, 2017. If the owner is not determined, the town can put the dog up for adoption or turn the dog over to a shelter to be re- homed or euthanized. Because of the dog’s personality, Luke McKay recommended that the dog be given to a shelter.

Peter Gruden would like everyone to know that “Buzz Wheeler (recycling center) condition is improving. When we saw him today, his pain had diminished and he was able to walk. Nonetheless, he is still getting important therapies. Anyone who wants to contribute to Buzz’s recovery fund can simply send a check to Karen Wheeler Box 185 Readsboro, VT 05350-0185. Buzz and Karen appreciate cards and contributions very much.”

Thank you for completing the Stamford Vermont Seed Savers compost survey this past Saturday at the Transfer Station.
Here are some highlights of the survey:
1. Out of 45 people surveyed, 75% of you already compost food scraps at home!
2. Of those who do not, more than half said they would be willing to bring food scraps to the Transfer Station for the first time. (yay)
3. Ten people would be willing to contribute compost to the Stamford Community/School Garden.
4. A third of you would be interested in attending a composting workshop.
5. Six people would be interested in having space in the community gardens.
6. One-third of you are interested in working with the Farm to School Program as it emerges at Stamford Elementary School, and another third are possibly interested.
We will be having our annual Seed Share in January, all are welcome to come with seeds or not.
In addition to our regular meetings, we hope to have two or three demonstrations this winter with possible topics ranging from compost to mushroom growing.
