ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT NOTICE OF HEARING
The Stamford Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Town Office to hear the following appeal:
Appeal #235 from Jim and Jamie Williams appealing the Administrative Officer’s denial of Permit #2011-18 to build a house and garage. A ZBA conditional use permit is required to build in a forest district per section 6.2.1 and section 4.1 of the Zoning By-laws.

PETITIONS FOR WARRANT ARTICLES & ELECTED POSITIONS
The deadline for filing petitions with the Town Clerk for warrant articles to be included in the Town Meeting warning is Thursday, January 26, 2012. These petitions must be signed by 5% of the registered voters or at least 30 signatures. V.S.A. 17:2642(a)
The required signatures on a petition to run for an elected office are 1% of the registered voters or at least 6 signatures. The deadline for filing these petitions with the Town Clerk is Monday, January 30, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. Nominating papers may be picked up at the Town Office. V.S.A. 17:2681(a) (b).
Elected positions to be filled this year are:

The deadline to register to vote in the March 6, 2012 election is Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The Town Office will be open on February 29, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accept applications for addition to the checklist.
Absentee ballots will be available until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012. Please call the town office at 694-1361.
Anyone interested in serving as an appointed board member, please review the expiring appointed positions in the town report and contact a member of that board or the Selectboard.

Dog Licenses Available
All dogs or wolf-hybrids more than six months old on or before April 1,
2011 are to be licensed by April 1st . To obtain a license, owners must
provide a current rabies certificate to show the dog or wolf-hybrid has
been vaccinated. Copies of all rabies vaccination certificates for
dogs and wolf-hybrids shall be filed with the Town Clerk.
Fees
are as follows: $8.00 for each male/female unneutered dog or
wolf-hybrid, $4.00 for each neutered male/female dog or wolf-hybrid. An
additional $4.00 will be charged for each license sold. This $4.00
will be sent to the State of Vermont, $1.00 for their rabies control
program and $3.00 for their spaying/neutering program.
All cats
shall be inoculated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian. A person
may use an approved vaccine to inoculate a feral feline that takes up
residence in a building other than the person's home and need not use
the services of a licensed veterinarian for this purpose.
It has
been suggested by the Board of Selectmen that a photo of a registered
dog in the files would be helpful when a dog is missing or found.
Anyone interested in submitting a photo of their dog for the files may
do so.
